Q. How to choose the correct type of refrigerated air dryer.

1. NON CYCLING

Unit runs continuously. Temperature regulated by metering the refrigerant gas.

Best Application: Use when the air usage is continuous.

Low Initial Cost—-Low Maintenance Cost—-High Energy Cost.

2. CYCLING

Unit turns on / off. Temperature is regulated by on / off operation. Has built in heat sink. 

Best Application: Use when the air usage is intermittent.

High Initial Cost—-Low Maintenance Cost—-Low Energy Cost.   

3. HIGH INLET TEMPERATURE

Unit runs continuously. Has built in aftercooler to pre-cool inlet air.

Best Application: Use when the air compressor does not have an aftercooler .

Medium Initial Cost—-Low Maintenance Cost—-High Energy Cost.

NOTE: Aftercoolers precool the compressed air before entering the dryer.

            non cycling & cycling dryers need system with aftercooler. 

NOTE: ALWAYS LOOK AT CAPACITY CORRECTION FACTORS IN DRYER BROCHURE TO PROPERLY SIZE DRYER.
